During times of distress and disturbed mental peace, we often forget one simple thing – that the situation that we are facing is totally temporary. Nothing in life is permanent and so is this reason which has led to your stress.

Trust me, I have been through many such times – we all have and with today’s lifestyle we all probably will again and again! And here we are still standing tall in spite of these setbacks. There are many ways to kiss stress goodbye!

Staying calm during such times of stress is a sign of inner peace and strength. This skill to stay calm is not what we are born with, it can be cultivated by conscious thinking and practice and today I will be sharing with you all my 7 point calm checklist – that helps me during stressful situations.

Checkist to help you stay calm, ward off stress and instill happiness and gratitude

Breathe –
Did you know that exhaling just once helps reduce stress by upto 60%? Simply by exhaling once you win half the battle against stressful situations. This is why concentrating on your breathing and taking slow deep breaths is very very helpful. In fact anger and stress cause us to take sharp, faster and shallower breaths leading to more stress.

Don’t take it personally –
If your stress is caused by someone else’s negative reaction then i advice you to not take it to heart. No one knows what the other person is going through. Which is why we do not know if his or her reaction is exactly a response to our behaviour or a delayed reaction to something else that has happened in their lives. In case it is in response to something that you did wrong – apologise. An apology does not make you look smaller or bad. In fact it will help you keep peace and you deserve it! There is always another time to correct your mistakes. Mistakes only make us human.

Ask if you don’t understand –
So much of stress is caused due to misunderstandings. Do your best to clear out any misunderstandings.

Kill overthinking –
The biggest cause of stress is overthinking. It only makes problems seem a whole lot more bigger than they actually are. What’s more, one thought leads to many more thoughts causing you to get stuck in a never ending harmful thought cycle which adds to stress and is very very difficult to get out of. When you are stressed, stop your thoughts where they are by doing something that will divert your focus, activities that will get you out of this harmful mindset. Exercise is a great stress buster, not only does it lead to reducing stress it also helps keep in shape and get fit and healthy!

Cry it out if you must –
Keeping pent up feelings trapped within yourself is harmful for both your mental and physical health. It can lead to increased stress on your emotional being. Sometimes a good cry is a must (yes, even if you are a guy!) Crying is never a sign of weakness. We are humans, emotional beings who are wired to feel and express.

Seek help –
We are social beings who feel better when amidst people who care, even introverts. We all at some point of time, need people in our lives who make us feel good about life and about ourselves, especially when times are tough. If you are unable to beat stress on your own, never ever think twice about seeking help – both from friends as well as professionals! Seeking help is again never a sign of weakness. It is just like asking for help to do something that you cannot do on your own, alone.

Share the burden –
It is said that joys multiply on sharing and sorrows are subtracted when shared. Don’t keep wallowing in your stressful state alone. If it is something that is bothering and stressing you a lot, sharing it with someone close to you always helps.

This 7 point calm checklist is my way to beat stress. I have found it to be incredibly helpful. Even though it is a checklist, not all steps are meant to be followed in order. In fact sometimes you might feel amazing just at the 1st step, in which case it is great for you! Stress is not something that is easy to beat but with that being said, it is not impossible to beat either! Wishing you more power to beat stress with the following affirmation;
“When everything falls apart, I have an opportunity to rebuild.”

So what is colour therapy & how can it help curb anxiety? To begin with I am sure that many people suffer from anxiety, after all anxiety is something we all feel at some point of time in our lives. When these feeling resurface time & time again & are triggered easily, it is then when that anxiety needs to be curbed. But this is all easier said than done.

Anxious & me? I can describe my own self as a very anxious person. Trying something new, taking big chances, facing crossroads, etc all make me anxious at the start. I figured that my anxiety stemmed from a feeling that I might not do well enough when faced with something new or a might lose an opportunity to prove myself. In the end, after I calmed myself down, I managed to do the tasks very well. In fact, I felt that if I had not been so very anxious in the first place I would have managed to do better at the task at hand.
In fact, I even tried to tell myself not to get anxious but that ended up making me feel more anxious!

No overnight revelations! After all this talk, I am not going to go ahead & tell you that all this changed overnight because IT DID NOT! I still struggle with anxiety & I have accepted it as a part of who I am. I can say that meditation, journaling, listening to songs & colour therapy helped me a lot!

Let’s talk about anxiety. According to the oxford dictionary, anxiety can be defined as a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome, strong desire or concern to do something or for something to happen.
Anxiety is one of the most common mental illnesses throughout the globe. In spite of this there is no right or wrong path to help alleviate it! Curbing anxiety is very personal activity.

So what does colour therapy do? Colour therapy is something that as I mentioned earlier has helped me a lot! It is based on the science of colours! Each colour of the spectrum is said to affect us & our moods. Science states that every colour has a vibration which can break apart the disturbances in our body & restore balance & vitality. Hues of the colours orange, red, yellow, green & blue all contain vibrations that can help alleviate anxiety. This is why a walk amidst nature or just looking at the sky can make you feel good & make your anxious feeling run away!

How can I apply colour therapy? Now that you know the colours, what can you do with them?

You can simply wear something that incorporates the colour, have a drink of that colour, surround yourself with that colour or keep a small but significant mood shifter along with you which has that colour! Keep in mind that not all colours work for everyone! Each person has one colour that strongly uplifts them. Find it out by trying out a visualisation technique – close your eyes and imagine each colour of those colours in front of your eyes one by one! The colour which makes your spirits lift is the one for you!

Another way that scientists have recommended is to use ‘colouring books’! There is something very soothing about colouring away, filling up those blank spaces with our favourite solid colours that just makes time fly away! This activity alone has helped curb anxiety upto significant levels as proved by actual tests. The activity of colouring away, makes the brain stay in the present moment. It is said to help the amygdala (the part of the brain that deals with anxiety, panic attacks, stress and depression) switch on to a sort of a ‘relaxation mode’. Regular colouring can actually help the amygdala go into repeated relaxation states thereby helping curb anxiety in the long run!

If you do suffer from anxiety, do try some of the above techniques! Do get yourself a colouring book & colour away! Let me know if you have any other aspects of colour therepy to add to these & let me know how these worked for you!

I also recommend this lovely Mindfulness colouring book which works on the concept of colour therepy to relax the mind! Check it out and do try it! –

My 7 step magical Sunday morning routine that works!

Hello everyone!

It has been quite a long time since I posted on this blog. It was a much needed break that felt really good. Being into a constantly evolving career comprising of digital marketing and sales with demanding timelines, it is very easy to feel all over the place and overwhelmed. But I am back and will be up and about regularly henceforth. Today I am going to be letting yu in on my Sunday morning routine!

Why should I have a routine even on a Sunday?                                          So why do you need a Sunday morning routine you might ask! Since each and every one of us works on a schedule throughout the week, it is very essential to have at least a day dedicated solely to achieving calm and peace within yourself!  In case you are dealing with a stressful day, here are some tips to help wind you down!

I am a firm believer of spending a lot of time dedicated to making myself grow. It is only when we are at utter peace and calm with ourselves that we can achieve self growth and miracles in our day to day lives!

This is the very reason why I have a special Sunday morning routine! This helps me stay relaxed and ready to face the new week with renewed energy and enthusiasm. Since a lot of people feel overwhelmed or anxious on Sundays, I have decided to let you in on this routine which really works for me!

On to my 7 step magical routine:

  1. Sunday = ME day: Treat Sunday as a day set aside just for yourself! This is your day, spend it doing what you love most! Schedule some time out for self care rituals, working on your side hustle or to even progress at your new hobby! I spend my Sunday by working on things that I love, like working on my bullet journal, treating myself to an amazing dessert and so on! 🙂
  2. Wake up: While this one may seem obvious but it is what makes a TON of a difference! What i mean by this is DO NOT set an alarm on a Sunday morning! Instead try to hit the bed early on a Saturday night and then let your body complete its natural sleep cycle and rhythm. Just sync in to your own body clock! This natural sleep is very essential for good health and healthy neural connections even! Since I am a fairly early riser, I am up by 7.30 am on most Sundays.
  3. Make your bed: So what is SO magically amazing about making your own bed? It is the feeling that you have already begun the day and have tidied up and organised something! A tidy space is definitely a more productive space! I always feel the simple joy of making my own bed! It is more likely a regular over the week ritual for me!
  4. Meditate: I think I would require a WHOLE NEW BLOG POST to write over how meditation can change your life over time! Believe me when I say meditation is not something to be ignored! Dedicate at least 10 minutes of your Sunday morning to meditation and be prepared to see significant improvements in your mental health and productivity! I use the Headspace App in order to get meditating on a regular basis and track my progress!
  5. Drink water: JUST Drink it – Lots of it! You will thank me later!
  6. Eat a wholesome breakfast: Although not exclusively a Sunday morning ritual, having a wholesome breakfast ensures that you can kickstart the day on an energetic note! More energy means all the more energy and enthusiasm to work on the things that you love! My favourite breakfast on Sundays is some omelettes and buttered toast and it is enough to fuel me up!
  7. Try a new self care ritual: My favourite is to just be still! We are constantly running around the clock throughout the week and have lost our ability to find the whole meaning of being in the present, in the now, with peace with our own selves! I have realised that this has helped me make sense of many crossroads in my life and has also led to a good flow of creative juices! I suggest you to try this or find your own one which adds value to your Sunday!

So this is my 7 step magical routine! Is there a particular routine which you have? Let me know in the comments if you do and do give this piece of content a share to spread the word! 🙂

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated on various dates in Canada and the United States including some other regions as well. The festival is celebrated in order to give thanks to nature for having blessed the regions with the harvest of the preceding year. Thanksgiving is usually celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday of the month of November.

At present, Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Also I could not have found a better featured image than this one for my blog post. The credit goes to @prochurchmedia. My social media feed is full of people deciding on their Thanksgiving Day plans! In India, where I am from, we do not celebrate this day. Nevertheless, the idea of having a whole day dedicated to giving Thanks intrigues me with every passing year!

India has an agricultural economy, i.e. more than 75 percent of its population is engaged into agricultural activities. This is why I have always felt that Indians need to celebrate Thanksgiving as well in order to honour its rich soil and all those whose hard work blessed us with good food.

Thanksgiving is a festival which also teaches us the power of gratitude – the power of giving thanks for all that we have received. With gratitude comes supply i.e. the more grateful we are about the things that we have already received, the more things we will continue to receive in order to be grateful for! Which is why here are three more reasons why I feel that Thanksgiving should be celebrated by us as well!

  1. Thanksgiving makes us realize that we have a lot to be thankful for. It makes us go through the process of looking at our blessings – the things that we already have and to be thankful for them! Each of us have many reasons to give thanks for in spite of being in difficult situations – we just have to look better!
  2. It gives us the joy of having a meal with the people that we love and spend a whole day with them thanking God for their presence. This helps cherish and maintain our relationships!
  3. Make us overcome the negative feelings of what we do not have and opens up a way to have all that we want through expressing gratitude!
I hope that you have a warm and happy Thanksgiving with all your near and dear ones! This year I will be celebrating one with my close family as well! 🙂 P.S. stay tuned for some amazing must have last minute thanksgiving goodies – coming soon! Love, Pooja! 🙂

Staying positive and mindful when on social media has become such a challenge for countless people nowadays. Social media is the current boom that everyone is still learning to deal with. The anxiety people suffer when on social media has become such a major issue nowadays.

I have often noticed so many older people talk about social media, its benefits and how fortunate the younger people are to have this unlimited exposure to the world and its happenings. They love the way we can connect to our friends as well as to our idols with just a tap on the screen. This very social media has brought the world a whole lot closer than it ever was by killing geographical distances.

Scrolling through our social media feed is what most of us do so many times a day. The amount of people we are connected with is huge. Many a times, we come across a post from the many ‘nearly perfect moments’ of our connections which gives rise to negative feelings. If you struggle to achieve the balance of your emotions when on social media, here are some tips that can make you feel positive;

1. Remember – There is a life beyond social media:

“Make your life simple,
Know what is important,
Disconnect with the virtual,
Connect with nature.”

Social media feed can be just as perfect as your dreams – It can bring you across many happy and colourful posts, pictures and stories that can make your own life seem dull. But it is during these moments that you must not forget the beauty of the life around you – the comfort and joy of your home, the warmth of an evening with your closest peers, the calming walk in your neighbourhood etc. Life is not only made of photos but with experiences and the moments that you have experienced, matter the most.

2. Post about the happy things:

“Don’t let your ice cream melt while you are counting someone else’s sprinkles. Focus on your own good.”

Studies have revealed that people who post about happy stuff, motivating and uplifting content, tend to feel a lot happier and contented with their lives. Also social media uses algorithms that identify what kind of content you post often and shows similar sponsored content in your feed. So when you post about positive stuff you tend to come across more sunshine on social media! 🙂

3. Avoid your haters or people who criticize:

“Watch out for the joy stealers – gossip, criticism, complaining, fault-finding & a negative judgemental attitude.”

This is so very essential. Let go of people who criticize you on social media. Having haters around you even if it is just on social media is unhealthy and will make you feel worthless about yourself. Haters are simply not worth staying in contact with. Staying in touch with them will only give you more feelings of negativity.

4. Do not make social media one of your mood shifters:

“Find something great that you are passionately excited about and keep tremendously interested in it.”

Mood shifters are things that do simply as their name says – Shift moods. Whenever we are tired, upset or disturbed, we all have our own list of mood shifters we turn to. If social media is one such mood shifter for you, you should try to find some other option. Staying dependent on social media to get your mood right is like handing over the reins to your feelings over to social media – Your feelings will change with the content that you come across. Learn to look at social media as something fun and do not take things personally or depend on it to make you happy.

5. Comparison – Nip it in the bud:

“Comparison isn’t just the thief of joy, it is the thief of everything. Keep your eyes on your purposeful path. Celebrate others. Cultivate gratitude over comparison. Gratitude turns what we have into more than enough.”

The number one thing that leads to negativity on social media is comparison. Getting into the trap of comparison is something that will make you compare the value of your life against that fancy Instagram feed that you came across. Everyone has their own moments – good or bad. Learn to appreciate them without trying to reach any conclusions or judgements.

6. Find your social media ‘Tribe’:

“Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it your family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.”

The importance of finding your ‘Tribe’ cannot be overstated ever, even when online. Find people who make you feel positive, fill you with the desire to excel at what you do, help you connect with your passion and create that important place in your heart. Connect with these gems – they are the ones who make social media feel like a boon!

7. Express Gratitude:

“Gratitude helps you see your rainbows over the thunderstorms.”

Gratitude is something that is so important when it comes to maintaining a positive mindset towards life. Use social media to express your gratitude towards someone who helped you, made you believe in the beauty of life again. This is one life skill that everyone should learn in order to create miracles in your life.

Give these tips a try. They will definitely help you see social media in a positive light!

Love, Pooja.

Hello everyone!

Hope that you are having a good week! 🙂

This post is about the few changes that I made to my blog here. This beautiful image here is to show off my excitement (Yay!) 🙂

I was a bit skeptical about writing a blog post for this reason but it only made me feel that it was my duty to do so when it came to my loyal supporters and followers!

The change all started with the blog goals I set for myself for this month. If you don’t know about those, you can have a quick look over here.

In order to achieve my goal number 3 from that post; i.e. increasing my engagement with other bloggers, I started looking for ways to do so. I came across many people referring to Twitter as a great option, which is why last week I decided to increase my activity on my existing Twitter account on which I wasn’t active at all (just like so many people I know).

From my experience so far, let me tell you that Twitter has so many amazing bloggers and blogging communities who are as supportive as the WordPress community!

Twitter is where I met this amazing girl called Sophie who blogs over at https://socialinfluencer.co.uk/. She had an amazing offer up one day where she was offering free logos, headers and more for the 1st 50 people who responded to her Tweet! I was lucky enough to be one of them and she designed one for me for free right away! 🙂 I must say I am in love with it! Thank you so much Sophie! 🙂 If you wish to have beautiful headers and want to give your blog a makeover, do head over to her. Sophie’s your girl!

I slowly became a part of so many blogging communities on Twitter including the Girls Who Blog community; the one I guest posted on. I would love to mention the lovely blogging community, The Tea Cup Club, which actually let me ‘HOST’ my first ever Twitter blog chat and gave me the freedom to choose the topic too! I must say I was nervous at first but it was just so much fun! It was one of my many firsts since I started on my blogging journey!

Moving over to my theme! I loved the DIVI 2 theme which I had before! There was actually no problem with it but I just wasn’t satisfied with the way the posts were presented in little squares. I figured that it was because the DIVI 2 is for photographers and people who want to showcase and highlight their photos. I wanted a clean template which helped focus on my content for now which is why I decided to switch over to the Independent Publisher theme just yesterday and I am not disappointed. I love this theme! 🙂

In case you are thinking about making changes to your blog, I would urge you to go ahead and try out the many options available here on WordPress; am sure that you will find something that suits your liking.

So, that is actually it for today, until later! Do let me know about your thoughts regarding my new header and the theme! 🙂 Would love to know. Any suggestions are also welcome! 🙂 Also let me know what you think about Twitter and if you are on it, let’s connect! Click here!

Have a positive day! Love, Pooja! 🙂
